What is Parent Plus?
The SRLF Parent Plus Loan helps qualified parents, guardians, and relatives support tertiary education or specialised training where direct student borrowing is not feasible or where costs go beyond the standard SRLF loan limit.
Who is it for?
Parent Plus may be useful for:
- Barbadian Citizens
- Families of students under 18
- Parents, guardians, and relatives supporting tertiary study
- Families facing a funding gap beyond the SRLF loan limit
- Applicants needing help with qualifying related costs that affect security or processing
- Applicants who possess a good credit
- Preferred repayment option of a salary deduction
The Options
Prestige Loan
For parents, guardians, or relatives financing education directly on behalf of a dependent. Up to BDS $125,000.
Secure Assist Loan
To obtain funds to cover any cost associated with SRLF’s security assignment process. Up to BDS $20,000.
How is the loan secured?
Security & Surety Requirements
Collateral or surety is needed for loan amounts above $20,000:
- Up to $20,000: security or surety
- $20,001–$50,000: One surety or equivalent
- $50,001–$70,000: Two sureties and/or equivalent
- Above $70,000: Security is
Secure Assist Loan
To obtain funds to cover any cost associated with SRLF’s security assignment process. Up to BDS $20,000.
Pre-register now for updates from SRLF. If the student is ready to proceed through the usual route, they may go directly to the Pinnacle Student Loan application.
What is Parent Plus?
Parent Plus is an SRLF financing option that allows a parent, guardian, or relative to step in where a student cannot borrow directly or where the full cost of study is higher than the current SRLF cap.
How it links to Pinnacle
Parent Plus complements the Pinnacle Student Loan by helping families cover education costs when direct student borrowing is not possible or when Pinnacle alone does not meet the full cost of study.
If the student qualifies under the usual SRLF route, start with Pinnacle. If more support is needed, Parent Plus may help cover the shortfall or qualifying related costs.
